Balasubramanian M obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Post Graduation in Production Engineering from Annamalai University, Tamilnadu, India.He obtained his Doctoral Degree in the area of Manufacturing from Anna University,Tamilnadu, India in 2007. He has to his credit 25 years of teaching experience including 11 years of Research experience after having served various leading institutions from 2006,in the capacity of Professor and Head, he has been heading the Department of Mechanical Engineering at RMK College of Engineering and Technology since 2012..

As the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, he was instrumental in getting Accreditation for Undergraduate Programs from the National Board of Accreditation. He has more than 81 Research Articles published in refereed Journals. He has obtained Research Projects and Seminar Grants from various Funding Agencies like BRNS, AICTE, ISTE, MNRE, and CSIR across India to the tune of 40 lakhs. He has organized several FDPs, National and International Conferences/Workshops sponsored by AICTE, Anna University, CSIR, MNRE, and BRNS. Prof.Balasubramanian’s area of specialization includes Optimization, Material Joining and Materials.
Two of his Articles are ranked one among the top 50 Articles in Science Direct. H index is the author-level metric that attempts to measure both the productivity and citation impact of the publication of a scholar. His Google Scholar H index is 21, Scopus H index is 18 and WoS H index is 16. To add to the feathers on his cap, he has filed three Patents in the area of Friction Welding, Nozzle Design in Abrasive Jet Machining and Equal Channel Angular Pressing of Materials. OF the Patents filed, 2 patents, one, in the area of Abrasive Jet Machining, and the other in the area of Friction welding have been granted. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Trendy Research in Engineering and Technology. He is an active Reviewer in several Journals published by Elsevier and Springer. He has collaborated with several Organizations for Consultancy and Training. He has also interacted with Organizations like Hyundai Motor India Limited and Addison Tools Limited; and due to his interaction and affiliation, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. presented an I20 car and Addison and Company Ltd., a complete kit of tools used in industry for the advantage of student community. He is a Lifetime Member of the Indian Society of Technical Education, Indian Welding Society, Indian Institute of Welding, Institution of Engineers, and Society for Failure Analysis. He is a DNV Certified Internal Auditor for the ISO 9001 Certification. He is also the approved Supervisor by Anna University for guiding Ph.D. scholars and under his guidance 3 scholars have completed their Doctoral Degree. He received the Best Faculty Award from Cognizant Technology Solutions in 2015 and the Best Administrator Award for the year 2016 from Dr.Kalam Educational Trust.

  • Research Project titled “Studies on Diffusion Bonding of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al- 4V and Austenitic Stainless Steel AISI 304 using Silver as intermediate layer” worth Rs.6.50 Lakhs was sanctioned by AICTE(Ref: 8023/RID/RPS-76/2010-11 dated 31-3- 2011) in the month of March 2011.

  • Grant of Rs 5.5 lakhs under the MODROBS scheme for Thermal Laboratory under the project name Replacement of Obsolete Thermal Equipments was sanctioned by All India Council for Technical Education vide Ref:8024/RIFD/MOD-362(pvt.)/Policy-III/2011- 2012
